Veset Announces Support for SMPTE 2022-7 in Veset Nimbus

Riga, Latvia, 12th October 2023 – Veset has added support for SMPTE 2022-7 in the latest update to its cloud-based playout solution, Veset Nimbus.

Among the features, integration of SMPTE 2022-7 within Veset Nimbus offers:

  1. Redundancy: SMPTE 2022-7 allows for the duplication of media streams over separate network paths. If one fails or experiences loss, the other path can be utilised without unnecessary interruption.
  2. Seamless Switching: switching between the primary and redundant streams is a feature made possible by the support of SMPTE 2022-7. This allows users to recover content in the case of network issues. This new announcement within Veset Nimbus allows for users to maintain media integrity and continuity in the event of a network problem.
  3. Synchronisation: this standard includes provisions for synchronisation between the primary and redundant streams, an essential feature of live broadcasting. Specifically, this feature allows for the security of expectations such as lip-sync and timing precision to be met.

The implementation of SMPTE 2022-7 within Veset Nimbus gives users an increased level of management control within the platform including error handling, compatibility, and scalability.

One of the standout reasons for the implementation of SMPTE 2022-7 is the enhanced compatibility with AWS MediaConnect, a leading platform for media workflows. The standard offers a plethora of new features alongside its support and will further scale the existing compatibility of Veset Nimbus.

SMPTE 2022-7 allows users to transport multiple media streams, including audio and video, over an Internet Protocol (IP). SMPTE 2022-7 is designed for use in broadcast and professional media production environments, allowing for users to effectively manage the timing of media streams.

Gatis Gailis, CEO at Veset, commented on the new support for SMPTE 2022-7, and the development of Veset Nimbus:

“The new standard will allow for substantial scalability and security within Veset Nimbus. Levelling up in sophistication and experience, the new standard will introduce a new era of professional and seamless playout development.”

Veset’s decision to integrate the SMPTE 2022-7 protocol is significantly influenced by both current and potential client’s needs, further proving its commitment to continuous evolution and client satisfaction. Veset continues to place itself at the forefront of broadcast technology with the support for SMPTE 2022-7.

Veset will be attending NAB NY on the 24th-26th October 2023, where the team will be happy to chat and show a demo of the product.
